The 2010 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race is again looking to be big, with a capacity bike field of 500 tipped and an increase in car entries expected.

The race for a spot in the line up to be a Finke Grid Girl is also looking to be big after 2009 saw the most ever applicants compete - 28 to be exact - for the chance to experience the race in style. 

Six girls will again be chosen to bring the glitz and glamour to Australia's greatest and fastest desert race with the competition open to anyone who wants to have some fun in style and experience the event in a different way.

The chosen Grid Girls will take part in their own official Grid Girl photo shoot and attend all promotional and media-related events as well as the weekend's events including scrutineering, race days and presentation.

This is an excellent opportunity to kick-start a modelling/promotional portfolio with one of the biggest off road events in Australia.  It is also a chance to appear in national and international print media, on television and radio.

There are heaps of prizes up for grabs including cash, goodies and the chance to be crowned Finke's "Ultimate Grid Girl".  Makeup and hair styling will be done for each day of the weekend and they'll also score VIP passes to get up close to all the action as well as after parties and the biggest party of the year - Presentation Night.

Keep your Friday nights free in June as the moment everyone in the Australian Off Road Racing community has been waiting for has finally arrived, with the exciting news that each round of the Australian Off Road Championship will be screened on OneHD, Network 10s dedicated sports channel.

The first of eight half hour episodes scheduled for 2009 season will premiere on One HD in less than a fortnight, sitting in the primetime slot of 7pm on Friday 19 June. Bringing all the high flying action into lounge rooms right across Australia with a 2009 AORC season preview.

A week later, Friday 26 June 7pm, we will be treated to event coverage of the ARB Pinjarra Engineering Hyden 450 held at Easter. Capturing all the tension and excitement of the eventful first round of the championship and blending it with stunning footage from both the ground and the air.

Complete coverage of the Tattersall's Finke Desert Race will be screened on Friday July 10, bringing all the colour of off road racing in the red centre to life in high definition.

The chequered flag has been waved as the race for the final six Grid Girls for this year's Tattersall's Finke Desert Race reaches the finish line!

28 beauties from Alice Springs, Western Australia and Victoria applied to be a part of the 2009 Grid Girl line up in Australia's greatest desert race and the final six have been chosen.

We had such a great response in the online poll with 1571 people logging on to vote for who they wanted to see as a Grid Girl.

Charlee-Anne Ah Chee, Amy Anderson, Jade Eaton, Allison Prentice, Jadye Scheidegger and Niamh Walsh will be the "Faces of Finke" for 2009 and be the first to trial the new look Grid Girl format.

The six girls chosen have a lot of fun ahead of them.  There's photo shoots, media appearances and of course the race weekend - they'll definitely be busy!

This year we're really trying to lift the profile of the Grid Girls, they'll definitely be a key part of the event's promotion.

28 beauties from Alice Springs, Western Australia and Victoria applied to be part of the Grid Girl line up for this year's race.  It is the most applicants the committee have had since the introduction of the Grid Girls in 2003.

With so many quality applicants it's been a very hard selection process.  The 28 applicants have been shortlisted to ten and we need YOUR help to decide who should be the final six.

We need people to vote for who they want to see as the 2009 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race Grid Girls.

Voting is open until Friday 3rd April with the final six announced on Friday 17th April.

The final six girls score heaps of prizes including cash, goodies, the chance to appear in ADB Magazine and pampering by Ms Lulu's Skin and Beauty.

Any entries received after the capacity was reached will go onto the official waitlist.  The waitlist is determined by order of receipt and entrants will advance when refunds/withdrawls are received.
