Multiple Finke Desert Race bike winner, Ben "Grabbo" Grabham, has finally overcome the notorious heat of the annual Deep Well MotoX event held by the Alice Springs Motor Cycle Club and taken outright honours on his third attempt.

Heading into the event, Grabham was defintely the man to beat with Deep Well being not only a test for his fitness, but also to see how his hand would hold up after breaking it on his way to victory in the 2011 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race.

Speaking to the Centralian Advocate's Dale Fletcher, Grabham said "The hand went really well.  It's definitely on target to where I want to be.  The healing will take time, It's probably at 95 per cent to where it was before I broke it at Finke last year."

The win has got Grabham more inspired for his fifth Finke Desert Race victory in June.  He said "I always look forward to Finke.  I have changed my contract with KTM a bit and I am now doing a lot more desert races because the atmosphere is a lot better."

2011 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race 10th overall rider, Jared Ewin finished second to Grabham, with local rider and Finke competitor Lachlan Summers rounded out the top three.

Bike entries for this year's Finke Desert Race will open at 9.00am (CST) on Monday 30 January.  All entries will be online with payment by Mastercard or Visa only.

The entry limit for bikes and quads is again 550 with the quad capacity limited to 80.
