Utility Terrain Vehicle Formally Recognised by CAMS

Finke Desert Race is excited by the announcement from CAMS of the recognition of the Utility Terrain Vehicle (Side-by-side).  Although these vehicle ran in 2011, there was some delay in formally recognising the class in the vehicle sections.  Race Secretary, Kelsey Rodda, observed, “ There has been quite a lot of interest in this type of vehicle and we are more than happy to have them represented in the 2012 Tatt’s Finke Desert Race.  Manufacturers have worked hard with the CAMS compliance team and their hard work has paid off.  It will be interesting to see what the entries will be like in this year’s event.”  The Specific Regulations (SR) for Off Road Vehicles can be found at http://www.camsmanual.com.au/05_offroad.asp

Baroota Announced as Round 2 of the South Australian Off Road Titles

It has just been announed that Baroota Off Road Racing Club will hold Round 2 of the South Australian Off Road Titles.  The Flinders 450 will be held on 28th and 29th April, making it a good event to lead up to the 2012 Tatts Finke Desert Race.  Further details are due to be released soon.

Toby Price takes the win at Melbourne's Enduro X

Former Finke Bike King of the Desert Toby Price has taken out the 2012 Melbourne Enduro-X over team mate Chris Hollis in the event held on Saturday.  Toby took the win with a 3-1-1 race result over Hollis who scored 1-4-2 result.   It came down to the last race with Hollis having the win in sight until Toby slipped past with one lap remaining to take the win. Outer Bounds Racing at Parker 425

Crossing the finish line at approximately 10:30am AUS CDST, brothers and Finke regulars Beau and Travis Robison finished the Parker 425 in the brand new Outer Bounds Racing V8 Geiser Brothers Trophy Truck.  The American event saw the team, under the guidence of eventual event winner and off road racing pro Robbie Gordan, eventally finishing 10th class after a few problems pushed them back from 5th spot.  Big congrats to the guys with them now packing up and heading home to prepare for this year's Tatts Finke Desert Race.  For more info on the boys run in the Parker 450, visit the Outer Bounds Racing Facebook page.

Tatts Group Back Onboard

Some very exciting news for Finke sees the Tatts Group (formally known as Tattersall's) continue on as naming sponsors with 2012 becoming the 'Tatts Finke Desert Race'.  Tatts Group CEO Dick McIlwain confirmed that they will support the Finke Desert Race again in 2012 which will see an investment of over $600,000 since they first sponsored in 1999.  A BIG thank you to the Tatts Group and bring on the 2012 Tatts Finke Desert Race.  See media release...
