Lost Go Pro Camera and Blue SD Card

Benn vandenberg number x65 was carrying a go pro camera which he lost when he crashed into a tree not far out of Alice on day one.  If anyone has found a Go Pro camera with a blue sd card he'd would really like to get it back. if you have heard or know if this has been found please let the Finke Office know. Even just the SD Card would be appreciated.

The following additional regulations have been submitted and approved by Motorcycling Australia as per MA Permit No: 014/11:
 
Amendment to:
  • 12: Competition Numbers
    • Number fonts will comply with the following:  Arial Rounded MT Bold as per sample displayed in Motorcycling Australia’s Manual of Motorsport Figure 12.6.4.2 (page 94).
  • 17: Prologue – Saturday 11th June 2011
    • Sign on will commence from 9:12 am
    • Rider's briefing will commence at 10:30 am
    • Prologue will commence at 12:00 pm
  • 28: Outright Positions
    • Timing will take the form of a computerised timing system, utilizing transponders, in addition to a hand held stopwatch.

Bill Hayes Snr.

The Committee, Competitors and Volunteers would like to extend their sincere sympathy to the family of Bill Hayes Snr.  Bill was a stalwart of the Territory Outback and, like the country he forged a living from, was strong but kind, hard but fair.  A true Legend of the Outback, we acknowledge his generosity, and that of his family, in letting Finke Desert Race run through Deep Well Station for the last 35 years.  His contribution to our event, our land and our community will be forever in our hearts.

Finke Prologue Track Practice : Sunday 1st May

The Alice Springs Motocycle Club is conducting Finke Prologue Track Practice on Sunday 1st May 2011.
  • Junior Riders: Scrutineering at 8:30am and riding from 9:00am - 12 noon.
  • Senior Riders: Scrutineering from 11:00am and riding from 12 noon - 3:00pm
As there is no dust control, riders including quads, will be divided into 3 groups, with each group riding for 20 minutes at a time to allow a good practice session.
 
All riders to have a current MA or one day licence. $10 entry fee per rider. Click here to view MA permit,

Online Entries A Winner

Online entries for Bikes & Quads opened on Weds to huge enthusiasm with nearly 300 entries being received in the first two hours and 550 by Friday morning. See our DASHBOARD for a breakdown.

Finke on Speedweek

The 2010 Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race will be featured this week on SBS Television’s Speedweek. The program airs on Sunday 16 January at 12.30pm (EST).

Tune in to relive Australia’s greatest and fastest desert race in 2010 which saw Dave Fellows crowned the King of the Desert for the third consecutive along side his navigator Mark Bergamin, and rookie Finke rider Toby Price claim King of the Desert for the bike section aboard his KTM 450.

2011 MA Supplementary Regulations Now Available

The MA Supplementary Regulations and Participant Declaration for 2011 are now available for download from the Entry > Bike & Quad menu. It is important that competitors wishing to race read these carefully before entering.

These regulations contain a description of the event and the regulations under which it will be run. Spectators may find them interesting if they want to understand what is happening better.

Scrutineering, Steward & Clerk of Course Training

The Alice Springs racing year is set to be a huge one for Dirt Bikes. You are invited to attend a Motorcycling Australia designed training course to become a qualified Scrutineer, Steward or Clerk Of Course Official, or up date your current level, for motorcycle racing in the NT.
Course Date: Sunday 30th January 2011, 8.30am to 5.00pm, Steward, Clerk & Clerk of Course (lunch and drinks provided)

The Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race Grid Girls for 2011 have been chosen!   Local girls Jayde Scheidegger, 20; Kirby Fitzpatrick, 19; Tina Parkinson, 18; Jaimee Eaton, 18; Tianee Collins, 18;  Kimberley Seymour, 22; Janelle Craggs, 18; and Katerina Kim, 18 as well as two interstaters Chelsea St Clair, 19 and Madeline Fowler, 20 will make up the ten strong group.

2010 DVD Release Update

The 2010 DVD was sent to all competitors on Wednesday 22 December, so if you are an interstate competitor you should receive it after Christmas. We are having the DVD replicated at the moment, so the rest of the copies will be sent to all Volunteers and then available for retail sales. Thank you for your patience.
