Led by the Dave Fellows/Andrew Kittle/Jason Adami #14 Jimco buggy entered from Gawler in South Australia in a time of 1 hour 47 minutes 19.13 seconds, the top five buggies have made the trip from Alice Springs start the Day 1 finish at Finke in under two hours, albeit on a track shortened by approximately five kilometres as compared to the normal 226 kilometre run.

The route for the start of the 2008 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race has been altered as a result of the constant rain that fell during Prologue for the event yesterday (Saturday June 7).

Of the 500 strong bike field, Darwin rider Jason Hill was the fastest competitor on the 8 kilometre prologue track with a time of five minutes 25.53 seconds followed by Chad Billett from Roxby Downs in South Australia (five minutes 26.09 seconds), with Michael Walsh from Alice Springs third with a time of 5 minutes 34.03 seconds.

South Australian crew Hayden Bentley and Ben Chivell in their #2 Jimco buggy have come out on top in Day one of the 2007 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race by being the first car to Finke.

The 2007 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race commencing tomorrow (Sunday June 10) is poised to be the closest ever in the thirty one year history of the race following today's prologue action to set starting positions for the 452 kilometre race from Alice Springs to Finke and back.

Last year's Tattersall's Finke Desert Race winners in the cars, the father and son team of Shannon and Ian Rentsch from Warnambool in Victoria will face strong competition following today's prologue to decide the start positions for the event.
