50 beautiful girls from all over Australia have applied to become 2012 Inland Electrical Finke Desert Race Grid Girls. The previous record for Grid Girl applicants was 28 in 2009.
The breakdown of applicants sees 19 Alice Springs locals, 14 from the Territory's Top End and 3 from Tennant Creek. New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia all have three applicants each, Victoria and Western Australia have 2 and Tasmania with 1.
